On Your Wedding Day – Have a Crochet Needle to hand!

I am often asked by brides “when is the right time to get into my wedding dress?” and my reply is always “give yourself plenty of time”.

I have seen it all to often that the morning is nice and relaxed and then all of a sudden panic sets in – a pair of tights get torn or chocolate stains appear on the flower girls dress! But the most common thing to delay a bride from getting to the church on time are those difficult buttons on the back of her wedding dress!! Bridesmaids are often nervous when given the job of fastening the dress and shaking hands and tiny buttons are never a good fit! So, on the morning of your wedding keep a crochet needs to hand to fasten those buttons and you will be heading off to the church in your wedding car before you know it!

Be sure and come back to my blog on Friday for another pretty real wedding!

A Killashee House Hotel Wedding Story – Louise and Alan

This has to be one of my favourite weddings from 2013 so far…beautiful venue, beautiful couple with a beautiful gathering of family and friends all gathered together for Louise and Alan’s Killashee House Hotel Wedding. Louise and Alan’s choice of a civil ceremony at Killashee was just perfect. Full of sentiment and meaning and watched on by family and friends – it was the perfect start to married life for these pair. Louise and Alan have been bitten by the travel bug and now live in Sydney. They were engaged however in Tibet and to honour how special it is to them as a place, they gave each of their guests a Tibetan white scarf (Khata). In Tibetan culture the scarves are used as a symbol of the purity of the respect of the giver and as an offering of welcome or farewell. It was such a lovely touch from Louise and Alan.

And so it continued…this wedding was so special and I loved every minute of it. Thank you to Louise and Alan for letting us share in your day and a special thank you to Michell Garrihy who was my second shooter on the day. Here are my highlights from the day.

A Ballymagarvey Village Wedding Story – Keelin and Christy

An English boy meets and American girl, love blossoms and on 26th February they got married at Ballymagarvey Village. Well it didn’t quite go like that but hey that’s the romantic in me! Keelin and Christy met in New York but when home called and Christy went back to England it looked like their brief romance was over. But…and its a big BUT…Christy returned to the US and the rest they say is history. Both of their families have Irish connections and a strong love for Ireland so it seemed natural that they would marry here and they got it spot on with their choice of venue – Ballymgarvey Village. It is a wedding venue that I know well and absolutley love! It such a stylish and relaxed enviroment where the food is devine and all who work there give 100% to give you an amazing day.

Keelin opted to get ready there on the morning of the wedding and as you can see from the images below she made quite the stunnung bride! Complete with her beautiful Kate Spade shoes, elegant bouquet by Petit Fleurs and amazing gown from NY Brides it was off to Rathfeigh Church for the ceremony. The wedding just flowed effortlessly from there and a great day was had by all…here are my highlights!

On Your Wedding Day – Always Carry Lipstick

Having spent so much time and effort on the morning of the wedding on hair and make-up, it is essential to maintain it during the day – especially during your family and couple’s portraits. A great tip is to apply your lipstick again just before these portraits, as it will stop you biting or licking dry lips –  which never look great in finished images. So be sure to perfect that pout :<)
